St Kitts Herbery produce a range of deliciously scented, herbal toiletries and chocolate. Our luxurious products are formulated using the finest ingredients, and are made with the special care, knowledge and attention gained from years of experience.

The St Kitts Herbery Story:


St Kitts Herbery was founded by Susan & Paul Johnson on the site of ‘St Kitts Leisure Stop’, an old truck stop style café on the A39 in North Cornwall. Susan & Paul came to North Cornwall with £2000, a polytunnel and some packets of seeds- everything you see today has grown from those humble beginnings.


The business officially opened and initially operated from the house- products were made in the kitchen and sold in the shop in the front lounge. The product range at this early stage included craft items, cards, toiletries and potpourri- basically anything that was herb related!

Lots of work went into experimenting with different fragrances and formulations and feedback from customers steered the selection process. From those early experimental ranges, Lavender & Geranium were firm customer favourites and are still with us today.


In 2003 we built a shop and workshop. Our bestselling range, Rosemary & Bergamot also launched in this year- it came out of a collaboration with The Mill House who had asked us to develop a range of luxury toiletries for their hotel. Initially, we made soap and hair and body wash for the hotel, but the fresh, herbal scent proved so popular that we expanded the range to its current 12 items. It is now our most popular fragrance and is used by Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall and the St Enodoc Hotel amongst many others.


As the business grew, we built another extension to expand the retail shop and invested in some super strength polytunnels that could withstand the wild Cornish weather!


The biggest development in 2007 was the introduction of our range of herb chocolate. We employed a chocolatier and then developed a delicately balanced range of artisan herbal chocolates. Today, our delicious chocolates continue to be handmade on the premises by an experienced chocolatier.


Our first major rebrand saw us invest in a stronger brand identity, using blue apothecary style bottles as our packaging.


We went through another rebrand in 2010, this time moving into the black packaging you see today. We felt (and still do feel!) that the black packaging better differentiates us from other companies.


This year saw the reopening of our coffee shop and the continuation of a very exciting chapter for us, including the makeover of our plant area and the start of our monthly evening meals!


We’re not even half way through the year yet and we’ve already had some major changes! Our shop has had a complete makeover – it’s so smart you might not recognise us… We’ve also transformed our coffee shop, with a new range of house plants, gifts, vintage items and we even do cocktails!
